Mr. Syed Adeel Hussain



Adeel is an expert in Islamic Finance and Banking and well as Financial and Risk Analytics and has worked extensively as a Head of Risk and a Risk Culture Builder at both Asset Management and Commercial Banking Institutions within and outside Pakistan.

Adeel has an exhaustive understanding of risks that exist in both Sharia and Non -Sharia Compliant Investment and Financing/Lending Products. This also includes developing policy and procedure manuals, recruiting of staff, imparting Risk Trainings and preparing the entire SDI (System, Design & Installation) workflow frameworks.

Adeel’s most recent assignment was as Head and Director of Quantitative Risk Analytics at Tadhamon International Islamic Bank Ltd (TIIB) and he currently continues to work as a Part-Time Trainer and External Reviewer in the areas of Banking, Islamic Finance and Enterprise Risk Management on the panel of various training firms including BMTG.

Previously, Adeel worked as Vice President and Head of Risk Management at the Dawood Islamic Bank Ltd. (DIBL), and Faysal Asset Management Ltd. as well  as being Risk Manager at JS ABAMCO in the Department of Risk and Compliance.

Mr. Val Pinczewski



Val Pinczewski is Professor of Petroleum Engineering and Director of the School of Petroleum Engineering at the University of New South Wales. Prior to joining the university, he worked as a Petroleum and Reservoir Engineer with Esso Australia. Val is an active consultant to industry in the areas of petroleum recovery processes, reservoir rock properties and characterisation and reservoir simulation. Professor Pinczewski conducts major research programs in improved oil and gas recovery and the prediction of reservoir rock properties from high resolution three dimensional images of the pore-space in reservoir rocks. He is the author of numerous technical papers and is a founder of Digital Core Limited which provides image based core analysis and reservoir characterization services to the petroleum industry. He is a regular presenter of short-courses in reservoir engineering, reservoir simulation and well test analysis in the Asia - Pacific region.

Mr. Yasser Tousson



Yasser Tousson is the Managing Director – Finance for Apache Egypt Companies. He has been with Apache since 1990 and has over 25 years of oil and gas industry consulting experience. Yasser specializes In Production Sharing Contract (PSC) accounting, auditing and taxation. He has vast experience in dealing with National Oil Companies in negotiating PSC and other commercial deals. He also designs and conducts courses and seminars relating to Accounting and Finance.

Yasser graduated from Cairo University in 1984 with a major in accounting and has a Masters degree in Public Administration as well as a diploma in Modern Accounting. He received his CPA certificate from the State of California and is a member of the California State Society of CPAs. Ms. Charlotte Warr



Charlotte Warr LLB (Hons), ACII, Solicitor, Chartered Insurer. Associate of the Association of Average Adjusters Charlotte obtained a law degree from Southampton University and was called to the Bar by the Inner Temple in 1987. Following two years training as a marine claims adjuster with the Commercial Union and obtaining her ACII she returned to private practice and requalified as a solicitor working predominantly in shipping related litigation of all types. Having realised that she missed being at the sharp end of the claims business, Charlotte returned to the Lloyd’s market in 1991. Since then she has worked as claims adjuster within the Lloyd’s market, both for Wellington and latterly as the claims manager at Goshawk, handling in a lead capacity all classes of both marine and non marine insurance, both direct and reinsurance.

In response to multiple requests for training services, Charlotte started her own training and consulting company in 2006 and now provides freelance services to the market as an author, trainer and consultant. Her clients include Lloyd’s, Lloyd’s Market Association, the International Group of P & I Clubs, Managing Agents, Brokers and experts such as lawyers and outsourcing companies working within the insurance market. She provides training both in the UK and overseas including US, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Turkey, and Greece. Charlotte is a past member of the CII Examiners committee, and was the CII senior marine examiner for several years. She currently assists a number of students both in the UK and overseas in their studies for the Association of Average Adjusters examinations as well as co-authoring the CII Hull and Associated Liabilities textbook, and writing a new textbook on Delegated Underwriting. Charlotte was also the instigator and organiser of the International Marine Claims Conference which was held for the first time in Dublin in 2004 attracting 130 delegates from around the world. It now attracts over 200 delegates each year and is celebrating its 10th birthday in 2013.

Prof. R. Paul Philp



Prof. R. Paul Philp is a Emeritus Professor in the School of Geology & Geophysics, University of Oklahoma. His research interests are petroleum, environmental and forensic geochemistry with the emphasis on molecular and isotopic characterization of oils, gases, rock extracts and contaminants for the purposes of source determination, characterization of depositional environments, maturity, bio degradation and for correlation purposes. He has published a lot of peer-reviewed papers and has taught a number of petroleum and environmental geochemistry courses in many countries and companies. Some of the reputed companies for which he has conducted trainings are: Petrobras, Saudi Aramco, Petronas, Shengli Oil Field China, Petrovietnam and ONGC

Scott has more than 14 years experience at a senior level in developing and delivering projects, sales training, media relations and campaigns, corporate strategies within financial services and media world.  

After obtaining his accountancy qualifications, Scott decided that he should move onto a more ‘relevant’ course that would allow him the best possible start after education.  After then graduating with Hons in Financial Services from Glasgow Caledonian University, Scott started work with an investment company working within their broker division, looking after a panel of key accounts. 

Scott worked for a national niche financial services company dealing primarily with high-net-worth individuals, helping them with planning for their future, becoming tax efficient and preserving their wealth.  In this role, he started off his training development, assisting colleagues to get through their company exams, ensuring compliance and developing IT, through being elected to the IT training and development panel for the company.

Scott worked for a retail bank in an investment capacity, before venturing into wealth management with a prestigious Edinburgh company – where he looked after company directors and owners, executives and public sector workers.

Scott set up a wealth management division for a major mortgage company, responsible for recruitment, development, strategy and overall management of the organisation, before setting up his own business in wealth management in 2010.
